It doesn't seem so long ago that every other game was a WWII shooter, whether it be Medal of Honor, Brothers in Arms or Battlefield. But then Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came along and booted the genre into the modern day, ushering in drone strikes, exo-suits and even outer-space combat. Now Activision's ten-tonne franchise is taking the shooter back to the trenches once more, returning to the days of bolt-action rifles and bayonets in the literally-titled Call of Duty: WWII. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the studio behind Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and its Kevin Spacey adventures, Call of Duty: WWII abandons the wall-running and jet-boosting movement abilities recent games in the series have leaned into, instead focusing on an experience more in line with 2005's Call of Duty II. In the campaign, health doesn't regenerate, while the multiplayer loses unlimited sprinting and replaces the popular slide move with the "dolphin dive" from Treyarch's Call of Duty games. If you're eager to see Call of Duty return to its roots, check out the table above for the best prices on Call of Duty: WWII in Australia.
