Bytom is a Chinese blockchain project that is developing a protocol to combine multiple assets into one blockchain solution. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of warrants, securities, bonds and a wide range of other digital assets between blockchains.
To achieve this goal, Bytom uses a 3-layer architecture that consists of the following: An application layer. This mobile-compatible layer is designed to make it easy and convenient for developers to create asset management applications. A contract layer. This uses genesis contracts and control contracts to issue and manage assets. A data transmission layer. This uses distributed ledger technology to provide for asset issuance as well as for the spending and transferring of assets.
The Bytom team made the decision to transition their blockchain from proof of work to proof of stake in order to avoid the negative environmental impact of mining and to enhance economic security. This concept of Bytom 2.0 was developed to interact with the DeFi space and support the Ethereum smart contract system.
