Face masks are now mandatory in Western Australia due to the highly infectious COVID-19 Omicron variant. The mask mandate covers everywhere indoors, other than in the home. While the measures initially only applied in certain areas of the state, they are now in effect across all of Western Australia. This includes Perth, Peel, South West, Wheatbelt, Great Southern, Pilbara, the Kimberley, Gascoyne, Mid West and Goldfields-Esperance

"We now have some community spread of Omicron in Perth. We know it spreads fast and easily," WA Premier Mark McGowan has warned. "We know that masks have a significant impact in helping stop the spread of the virus. It's important we all do our bit to help limit the spread."

If you are not quarantining at home, you need a good quality mask to help you stay safe. N95 and KN95 masks are considerably more durable than cloth masks. They are designed to filter out airborne particles with a filter performance of up to 95%. This makes them more effective at keeping out the virus.

While a face mask will not make you immune to COVID-19, it can stop particles that are released when someone coughs or sneezes from reaching your nose or mouth. Naturally, they also lessen the chances of you infecting others in the event that you have contracted the virus without realising it.
