Yesterday was a big day for Kim Kardashian West. Not only was she set to speak about her brand and business strategy with Forbes editor, Steve Forbes, at the Forbes Women's Summit, but just a few hours earlier she dropped a huge Instagram bomb. Kim Kardashian West is launching her own beauty line.
Six hours ago, Kim posted three promotional pictures each with a launch date (21.06.17) and featuring the url kkwbeauty.com. So it would appear that, after all this time, Kim Kardashian West is following in little sister Kylie's footsteps and launching her very own beauty line - and this month!
So, how is this different from any of the other beauty products that Kim has her name on? Well, this one is all hers whereas the others were part of licensing deals.
At the Forbes Women's Summit, Kim spoke about pulling back on licensing deals in favour of creating her very own products on her own terms. She said her focus is now on the new makeup line and upcoming fragrance called Kimoji.
“There’s nothing I would do now if I don’t have creative control,” Kim said. “In the past, I found power in saying yes to so many things, whether it was tanning, shoes, cupcakes or fitness videos."
This suggests that the beauty line's stockists will be limited. Kim's licensed products like Kardashian Beauty and Kardashian Kollection apparel are available at loads of stores like Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and THE ICONIC. And this is because these lines have been created in conjunction with companies that have an existing relationship with the stockists.
Kim going out on her own could mean that fans can only access her beauty line through the kkwbeauty.com website - just like Kylie's line which is only stocked on her site kyliecosmetics.com. But we'll just have to wait and see!
A visit to the kkwbeauty Instagram account reveals nothing more than the three pictures also posted on Kim's account. And if you head to the site you're not greeted with much more, just the same date and an email sign up form. So Kim appears to be keeping pretty tight lipped about the details. You'll just have to sign up your email (like we did) for more.
Stay tuned for more details as they come out. We'll be interested to see if she's doing makeup or skincare or both!
