Finder Beauty Fave: Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
If cool weather and increased time spent indoors has your lips looking a little worse for wear, this affordable lip balm is here to help.
Life in lockdown has seen many of us take a step back from our favourite glam and glittery beauty products and focus instead on our skincare staples. With increased time spent inside with the heater on too, now is a great time to give your skin some extra TLC.
While most of us already have a go-to winter moisturiser, many of us are guilty of forgetting that our lips also need some loving. So, as someone who suffers from extremely dry lips, I decided to put one of the most well-known lip balms around to the test to see how it performed.
The quick verdict
Why is it good? The affordable, 100% natural lip balm softens and nourishes dry lips for hours.
How much is it? $6.95 (4.25g)
Where to buy it: Cosmetic Capital, David Jones, Active Skin
First impressions
The first thing that drew me to Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm was the fact that it is 100% natural. This means that it's free from nasty ingredients like parabens, phthalates, petrolatum and SLS, which actually do more harm than good.
The second draw is the fact that the tube is made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic and printed with vegetable-based ink, making it a more sustainable option than many others on the market.
In terms of the lip balm itself, it's actually a little deceptive as its thick texture makes it feel as though it isn't super moisturising (and I usually like my lip balms to offer a fair slick of moisture as soon as I put them on). However, the thick feel of the product is actually just the beeswax locking in the moisture from other ingredients like coconut, sunflower oil and fatty acids.
As a result, lips stay hydrated for hours, which is great news for those like me suffering from sore, chapped lips. You also get a refreshing tingle from the peppermint oil every time you apply, which serves as a nice little pick me up.
Verdict
From the moment you apply the Beeswax Lip Balm you can feel the difference it makes to your lips. Moisture is instantly locked in and the skin is noticeably more supple after just a couple of hours.
I also love the fact that it's an all natural product with a focus on sustainable packaging, which makes it my top choice over other balms on the market. Overall, it's a simple, affordable product which delivers on lasting hydration, making it a solid handbag staple.
Affordability
Priced at $6.95, the Beeswax Lip Balm is definitely an affordable addition to your skincare routine. Like most lip balms, it will last you for quite some time too, which makes it money well spent.
Where to buy
You can buy Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm at online retailers such as Cosmetic Capital, David Jones and Active Skin, as well as at pharmacies like Chemist Warehouse and Priceline.
