BTSE was launched in May 2020 and is the first exchange token to be built on Liquid, a Bitcoin sidechain and layer-2 solution that focuses on confidential settlement and asset issuance. Thanks to the privacy offered by Liquid, all BTSE transaction details are hidden, including the transactional amount of the type of asset traded. Liquid also allows the exchange to offer extremely fast transaction speeds while utilising the security of Bitcoin. A new block in the Liquid sidechain is produced every minute and each transaction is finalised within three minutes.
According to BTSE’s website, the exchange was developed to bring confidentiality, efficiency, and stability to the cryptocurrency trading landscape. Leveraging confidential and quick transactions, the exchange offers users the ability to easily convert fiat to crypto and trade over 98 different cryptocurrency assets and derivatives, including futures contracts. Over 99% of the exchange’s funds are stored offline in cold storage wallets and traders can access up to 100x worth of leverage.
The native token of the exchange is also known as BTSE. The BTSE token power the entire exchange ecosystem and claims to be the first exchange token built on a Bitcoin sidechain. BTSE token holders can enjoy trading fee discounts, earn extra rewards, access higher limits and rebates, and spend the token to access platform services.
