Telesurf offers NBN, ADSL and landline phone plans and home security for residential and business customers.
What services does Telesurf offer?
Telesurf offers internet services, including Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), Fixed Wireless, Fibre to the Node (FTTN) and Fibre to the Business (FTTB). All of the services are available for residential and business customers. The NBN services vary between either 200GB or 1TB of data per month. If the NBN is not available in your area, Telesurf also offers ADSL2+ services with unlimited data every month. Additional phone and security services can be added onto all NBN and ADSL2+ plans, or they can be connected independently.
How much does Telesurf cost?
Depending on the service you choose, whether it’s NBN, ADSL, phone service or security, the costs per month can vary. Due to different set-up procedures, the set-up costs also vary depending on the service you choose, and they can range between $70 and $109. Modems are not included in the set-up cost and must be purchased prior to installation, or, if the customer desires, a modem can be purchased directly from Telesurf for $109. Adding on a phone or security service will also attract an additional cost. The phone service will cost either an additional $9.95 or $32.35 per month and the security service will cost an additional $25 per month. Business customers have access to all of the residential services, which are similarly priced.
Telesurf home phone services
NBN and ADSL customers are able to sign up to a home phone service. NBN phone services cost an additional $9.95 per month with local and national phone calls included and mobile calls costing $0.22 per minute. ADSL2+ phone services cost $32.35 per month, local calls are included, national calls cost $0.09 per minute and mobile calls cost $0.28 per minute.
Telesurf security plans
For $25 per month, Telesurf offers an extensive security service. Telesurf uses Home Alert, which is a two-way wireless alarm system that is specifically designed for residential homes and small businesses. The system comprises of one main control panel, one movement detector with a camera, one movement detector without a camera, one door/window sensor, two four-button remote controllers and an internal siren. This hardware will cost an additional $300. Extra security devices can be added on at an additional cost.
Pros and Cons
- Low price point. All of the services offered, whether it’s ADSL2+ or NBN, are relatively inexpensive. Compared to Telstra or Optus, Telesurf is a cheaper alternative that offers similar services.
- Security. Unlike many telecommunication providers, Telesurf offers an extensive security range for residential properties and businesses. This feature sets them apart from the competition.
- Modems are not included in set-up fees. Most providers include a modem in the set-up costs; Telesurf does not.
- ADSL2+ phone service costs. Charging an additional $32.35 per month for a phone service is an unusually high extra cost. Also, this phone service only includes local calls, so if you call national or mobile numbers, the cost per-month may increase drastically.
