Dell shipping, warranty and returns policies

Shipping

Dell takes a streamlined approach to delivery for orders made at its online store. Shipping costs are all factored into the sticker price of a product and you don't choose a particular delivery method. Instead, Dell determines which method to use based on where you live and the product you ordered, calculating an estimated delivery date and notifying you after you've placed your order.

For peripherals and pre-built computers, delivery can be as quick as two or three days after an order has been processed. For custom-built systems, though, you could be waiting up to 14 business days after processing for your purchase to show up.

Warranty

Most Dell products come with a one-year limited warranty included at no extra cost. This typically covers any repair or replacement in the event of malfunction caused by the product itself. This does not cover problems arising from misuse, accidental damage or unauthorised modifications.

Dell also offers a slew of optional warranty plans, from simple extended warranties to premium support plans that include onsite service should anything go wrong with your device. These premium plans also include 24/7 tech support for resolving smaller issues without the need to send your device into a service centre.

Returns

Issues with damaged, faulty or incorrect items are all covered by Dell's warranty policy and can be returned for repair or replacement so long as the issue was not caused by improper use.

Should you want to return a purchase from Dell after simply changing your mind, you have a 15-day window in which to do so. However, this policy does not cover software. The returned product must be in the same condition you received it in and Dell may charge you 15% of the product's price to cover the cost of restocking the item.

What products does Dell offer?

While Dell is known primarily for its pre-built PCs and laptops, it offers a whole range of other products, too. These include monitors, keyboards, mice, hard drives, projectors, headphones, battery packs, carry bags and more.

Most of these products are Dell-branded, but you'll also find a handful of products from other companies like Logitech and Microsoft for sale through the Dell online store.
