Bourbon Street Mardi Gras at The Island Bar

Information verified correct on October 29th, 2016

The Mardi Gras parade might be over, but that doesn't mean the celebrations have to end.

The Island Bar

Fancy experiencing a little old fashioned New Orleans hospitality? Get to Cockatoo Island this weekend for the Bourbon Street Mardi Gras, when The Island Bar transforms into the Rue des Bourbon and brings with it the cocktails, music and street food New Orleans is famous for. Think hedonistic decadence with French Quarter vibes with a killer jazzy-blues soundtrack.

Louisiana grub in the form of soft shell crab, spicy Cajun chicken wings and banana fritters will be served up by rolling food carts. It’s a little something to snack on while you watch street performers, dancers and Sydneysiders sipping on traditional New Orleans cocktails.

It’s a carnival designed to transport you to the New Orleans of yesteryear. In fact, if it wasn’t for the million dollar views of the harbour, you might forget you’re in Sydney at all.
