Beauty product of the week: Born Again Body Skin Hydrating Tonic
Perfect for anyone needing to get out the door in a flash.
Why we love this product
In winter, we often (myself included) sacrifice body moisturiser for a few extra minutes sleep. This actually isn't a smart thing to do since winter is when we need to be moisturising our skin the most.
When I came across Born Again Body's Skin Hydrating Tonic, I was very keen to try it. It promised to "rejuvenate, nourish, hydrate", which is something that I desperately needed. The skin on my calves had started to resemble something you might see on a lizard thanks to too many mornings hitting the snooze button.
Before I'd even tried this product, I was already in love. When I opened it, I saw it was in a spray bottle and I'm a sucker for a spray bottle. It makes applying the product easy and very fast. I'm not sure why more products aren't packaged this way.
When I sprayed it on the first time, I was surprised that the consistency was more like water than a moisturiser. The label makes so many promises about hydration that I guess I expected it to be a bit thicker and heavier. After one application, I wasn't really sure if it would live up to all its promises.
It says on the bottle: "A lightweight, hydrating skin tonic formulated to refresh your skin from the outdoor elements. This natural skin tonic will rejuvenate and repair, while keeping your skin smooth and moisturised. Rich in aloe vera, vitamin E, witch hazel, green tea and peppermint oil to tingle the senses and soothe the skin."
But after using it for two weeks, I'm sold. The skin on my legs resembles skin again. While I'm sure other moisturisers could have achieved a similar result, this one is so much quicker to apply (thanks to the spray bottle). The lightweight consistency doesn't leave you feeling slimey and you don't have to wait for it to dry before slipping into your jeans. It just sinks straight in. It also smells lovely—a subtle rose scent that is perfect for someone like me that is allergic to heavy fragrances.
If you tend to skip body moisturiser because you run out of time in the morning, this is the product for you. It takes me all of 20-30 seconds to apply and rub it in.
At $29.95, this isn't the most affordable product out there. But if you really love it (like I do), it's not too much to spend. I'd rather spend $30 on something I love than less on something that I wasn't really inspired to use.
