Boost Mobile expands weekend data offer
Customers on Boost's 4G prepaid plans now get additional data on Saturdays as well as Sundays.
October 28 2015: Boost Mobile has expanded its unusual "extra data" offer to cover the whole weekend. If you're on the $40 Boost plan, you'll have an extra 2GB of data which can be used between 9pm Friday and 11:50pm Sunday AEST. On the $20 plan, you get an extra 500MB.
Previously, Boost Mobile offered 1GB of extra data for use on Sundays only on its $40 plan, and 500MB on the $20 plan.
While that theoretically means you could score 11GB of data in a month on the $40 plan (3GB included plus 2GB extra across four weekends), you'd need to have very unusual usage patterns to get that far. It's still more sensible to treat these plans as offering 1GB ($20) and 3GB ($40), but with a little more flexibility than other plans. Last month Boost Mobile upgraded from 3G to 4G, becoming the first carrier other than Telstra itself to offer access to the Telstra 4G network. Telstra has said that other providers will be given wholesale access to the network by June 2016. The majority of carriers using Optus' network are already 4G. Outside of its own network. Vodafone has only offered 4G access to TPG customers.
