From time to time Qantas offers bonus deals for transfers from credit card rewards programs. These are typically between 15% and 30% depending on the promotion and how many points you're transferring. Qantas generally offers larger bonuses when transferring larger numbers of points.
These bonuses can help you squeeze some extra points from your spending and get on a flight sooner.
What reward points can I transfer to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program?
There aren't many programs which currently allow you to transfer to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, so these promotions won't apply to everyone. Eligible programs include the American Express Membership Rewards program (Business Ascent and Ascent Premium members only) and the ANZ Business Rewards program.
Other programs including Suncorp Bank Rewards and CommBank Awards also allow transfers to the Qantas program, but require cardholders to opt in for automatic monthly transfers. These are generally excluded from bonus transfer promotions.
What should I be aware of when transferring reward points to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program with a bonus promotion?
Before transferring reward points to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, there are some things to be aware of:
- You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (you can avoid membership fees using these methods).
- Bonus points may take up to 15 days to reach your account.
- Bonuses are generally not available for cards automatically transferring reward points into the Qantas program each month.
- If there are multiple bonus points offers active, you'll generally receive the highest transfer amount rather than being able to stack offers together.
- Some credit card programs will have minimum transfer amounts so check with the program first.
How many Qantas Points could you earn?
Below are some ideas of how many extra points you'll earn when transferring 200,000 reward points to the Qantas program at a rate of 2 reward points per 1 Qantas Point.
|Regular transfer rates||Qantas points normally earned on 200,000 points||Qantas points earned with a 15% bonus||Qantas points earned with a 25% bonus||Qantas points earned with a 30% bonus|
|2 Membership Rewards points = 1 Qantas Point||100,000 Qantas Points||115,000 Qantas Points||125,000 Qantas Points||130,000 Qantas Points|
THE POINTS FINDER TAKE
There aren't many programs that still allow one-off transfers to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, but for those still in these programs, this can be a great way to get more value out of your reward points.
