Instagram made me buy it: Bondi Sands Aero Tan Ultra Dark review
As soon as I put this product on my skin, I had a full-blown panic – and not in a good way.
I love to think of myself as a bit of a fake tan professional. I take it as my sworn duty to try all new and fabulous fake tans so that I am an expert in the field.
Yes, this means I have lived out that Ross fake tan meme more times than I'm willing to admit, but whatever, it's for a good cause.
Me walking into work after fake tan Thursday.
Anyway, Bondi Sands very recently launched the Aero Tan in Ultra Dark and I don't think a tan has called my name so much before. I reviewed the Aero Tan original a couple of months ago and loved it. However, this formula boasted an even darker stunning tan and what am I going to do? Say no. Pfft.
So when trying out the tan, I followed the same prep routine that I have for years. Exfoliate off the old tan (I also like to use the Bondi Sands Fake Tan remover for this), moisturise and wait an hour. This tan has the same foaming mousse consistency as the original Aero Tan.
The only main difference is the colour and okay, we definitely need to talk it. It's green.
When you put this on your skin, it legitimately looks GREEN. I had a full-on panic because I was channelling some low-key Shrek vibes. I thought to myself, "How could Bondi Sands do this to me? After everything we've been through together?"
So after having my dramatic moment, I let my tan dry and got ready for bed. YES, you read that right. I slept in it. Was I scared that I was going to wake up resembling the Hulk? A little, but I'm doing this for you guys.
The next morning, I woke up and washed off the tan and THANK YOU TANNING GODS for this beautiful blessing. I wasn't green.
The colour was actually one of the most beautiful tans I've ever had. It was a deep natural tan that looked like I had just returned from a European holiday. I also have super dry skin and it didn't really stick to any of the dry patches.
Now the make or break for me is not how deep a tan goes but how long it lasts. Some tans can give you the most beautiful colour, but after two days, you look like an orange reptile, which is not the look I'm really going for.
I moisturise morning and night to get the most longevity out of my tan and, boy oh boy, does this one last well. Any tan will go a bit yucky if you don't moisturise but a lot will lose the deep colour after a few days. BUT the deep tone of the Aero Tan Ultra Dark really stuck around for at least five days. I was then able to top it up with the Liquid Gold foam and honestly, I don't think I'll ever be pale again.
WATCH OUT WORLD, THIS IS MY TIME.
You don't even need to just take my words for it either. Here are some results from Instagram of people using this tan and these aren't influencer posts either.

The main moral of this story is to really not judge a book by its cover. This is easily one of the nicest tans I've ever tried and the colour once you wash it off is a strong 10/10. I just won't be going out into society during that in-between phase.
Would I buy it again?
Okay, so this product was gifted to me by Bondi Sands, but once I run out, I will 100% be investing. I like the colour once it's washed off, it lasts well and a small amount of product goes a long way.
Where you can buy it
It's actually pretty easy to get your hands on Bondi Sands because you can shop it from the brand's website, or you can check out official stockist, Priceline. It has the full Bondi Sands range in-store and online.
