BlueAnt Pump Air True Wireless review: Light wireless sound

Last updated:

Blueant's wireless buds provide quality sound at an appealing price point, although they lack features like fitness tracking if that's important to you.

The good

  • Lightweight design
  • Good battery life
  • Less obvious than Airpods

The bad

  • Battery case is quite large
  • Tricky latch on battery case
  • No associated fitness app

With so many smartphones opting to drop traditional 3.5mm headphone jacks, we've seen a renewed interest in Bluetooth headphones as the audio connection methodology of choice. Once seen as rather pretentious, they're now significantly more socially acceptable, with Apple's Airpods often cited as the style leaders of choice. BlueAnt's Pump Air True Wireless offer a style alternative to Apple's own in-house efforts without the rather more obvious microphone arm.

Design

  • Buds are lightweight and discreet
  • Large charging case isn't exactly pocket-friendly

Performance

  • Better audio quality than your typical wireless earbuds
  • Integrated microphones work well enough for handling phone calls

Battery Life

  • 3-hour battery life is reasonable
  • Charging case adds an extra 12 hours of battery life

Verdict

The BlueAnt Pump Air True Wireless earbuds are competitively priced if what you want is a relatively simple fuss-free set of headphones, but you do have a lot of choice in the fitness area. They're notably lacking in the area of fitness tracking where solutions like the Jabra Elite Sport or for that matter the Bioconnected HR+ manage more statistical analysis. Within the budget space, you could also consider the very similar Flowfonix Buddies or Cygnett Freerun headphones instead.
