List of Black Friday 2018 Deals

What time does Black Friday start for Australians?

This is where it gets a little tricky due to international time zones. Australian stores will likely start their sales at the beginning of the day on Friday. If you're looking to purchase from an international retailer, you might have to wait until store opening hours start in the store's home country.

We’ve got deals that have started already (see above), with dozens more going live at on Thursday, on Friday and on Saturday too (which will be Friday for the US).

Why does Black Friday matter for Australians?

Because the amazing deals are available here too. Every year more and more Aussie stores are joining in on the Black Friday fun and launching some of their best sales of the year, just in time for Christmas.

When do Black Friday sales end?

Black Friday sales will typically end when retail shopping hours end on the Friday. However, plenty of store extend their sales across the weekend. Even more stores extend their sales online.

If you're worried you've missed out on something, it's always good to double check which stores are extending their sales in the list above.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is the online version of Black Friday, with many retailers offering new or continued bargains online. Last year shoppers spent a record $2.28bn, and this year it’s only expected to rise.

Why is it called Black Friday?

While many explanations link the name to the fact that retailers operate at a loss – or "in the red" – January to November, and this is the day their profits turn around (in the ‘"black"), the name actually dates further back than that.

It began in Philadelphia, when it was used to describe the disruptive swarms of people hitting the streets in search of a bargain.

What is a doorbuster deal?

These are deals or products that are only available for certain times, such as when the doors open first thing in the morning. However, according to Mark LoCastro of DealNews, the majority of doorbuster deals will be available online at a similar (or even cheaper!) price. So while Australians won’t be able to physically walk into the store, you might be able to take advantage of these online.

Tips and tricks for Australians on Black Friday

  • Do your research. Unlike Australia’s answer to Black Friday, Click Frenzy, many retailers publish their deals before Black Friday, meaning you have time to consider your options and really find the best bargain.
  • Make sure the retailer ships to Australia. Always a good one to check before you get excited over a deal. That being said, you can now take advantage of Australia Post’s ShopMate service, which provides you with a US postal address to get items shipped to, before delivering them to Australia.
  • Shop around. You might find a better deal elsewhere. For example, Apple is notorious for offering mediocre Black Friday deals, while other stockists selling new or refurbished Apple products might be offering a better discount.
  • Don’t forget that electronics might not work. It’s easy to get caught up in the bargains. Some of the best deals in the US revolve around new TVs, but even if you buy one at a massive discount, you’ll probably need an adapter and a transformer… as well as the higher shipping cost.

      Hi Katie,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Whilst we cannot say what is the best deal or recommend, you can also have a look at this page and compare your options for TV deals in Australia.

      Happy shopping!

      Hi Dale,

The code is working, make sure you are spending at least $75, otherwise the code won’t work. It’s in the T&C’s.

      Thanks,
      Clare

Hi, I tried to link to the Apple store to buy an iPad, however it is impossible to find anything and there are no Black Friday deals listed and no way to click on any purchases in the Apple Store- do you have any idea of the link that just takes you to buying and checkout with out all the garbage advertising and misinformation?

    Hi,

i m looking at the “Microsoft Store – Surface 2 Save up to $240”, and i click into the Mircisoft website, it is stated only 100 dollars discount. just wondering if there is any wrong ?

    Cheers

      AlexDecember 1, 2014Staff

      Hi Keith,

The offer is in fact $240 off the original price of $539. Last month, they were offering $130 off a 32GB Surface 2, and $140 off a 64GB one.

However, for Black Friday / Cyber Monday, they’ve taken another $100 off, bringing the savings up to $240. As the deal on site no longer reflects this, our deal now reflects just the $100 off.

Thanks for your patience, and I hope this helped!

      Cheers,
      Alex

      Hi Keith,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The “Save $240” was the deal we were notified of, however, looking at their website, it does appear to only be a saving of $100. Still, not a bad deal!

We’ve amended the deal on here for now, and have gotten in contact to see where the information changed. It looks like the deal is still available, though!

Will get in contact again once we’ve heard back.

      Cheers,
      Alex
