What to consider when buying tech from Amazon on Black Friday
Where is it coming from?
Like eBay, Amazon is a marketplace rather than a traditional online retailer. This means its products come from a wide variety of sellers so costs, shipping times and even quality can differ considerably from product to product. Items fulfilled by Amazon tend to be the cheapest and quickest to arrive, plus they benefit from free shipping if you're an Amazon Prime member. Items from other sellers tend to take longer to ship and do not come with Amazon Prime benefits.
Amazon often price-matches local retailers quite aggressively, which is great news if you don't want to brave the crowds at a brick-and-mortar store and prefer the convenience of online delivery. The caveat here is that prices can change on a dime, going up and down at Amazon's discretion. This can lead to times when the item you just bought gets discounted mere moments after you've placed your order or instances where a sweet discount is suddenly reversed without warning. Keep this in mind before you click the place order button.
