What did BIG W have on sale last year?
Big W tends to keep its Boxing Day sales pretty safe as houses until closer to the date, but last year it was offering 50% off Tefal pans, 20% off CityBeach gift cards, 20% of XBox Live and other Xbox One discounts.
This year, we’re predicting similar sales, with homewares being the store’s biggest bargain.
During the Christmas holidays, Big W was offering discounts on a wide range of toys (20% off, kids’ furniture and books and consoles), so unless they don’t sell out, it’s likely these discounts will continue through Boxing Day to finish clearing off that stock.
What can I buy from Big W?
Big W is one of Australia’s largest low-price department stores and sells everything from fashion, entertainment and homewares to furniture, toys and gardening products. Not everything will be on sale during Boxing Day, but considering it has so many departments there’s bound to be something on sale that you need.
What are Big W’s Christmas and Boxing Day opening hours?
If you’re planning to shop online, the store is open 24/7, but fulfillment will not be until the following working day. If you’re planning to shop in-store, trading hours will vary depending on the location of your closest Big W and may also depend on the hours of the shopping centre it is housed in.
Generally, Big W stores will be open late (up until midnight) on Christmas Eve, be closed on Christmas Day and be open on Boxing Day for limited hours (e.g. 11am-5pm).

Are there benefits of buying from Big W online on Boxing Day?
The main benefit of purchasing online is the convenience of not having to go in-store for your items and to avoid the crowds. Other benefits include ease of finding the products you want (all you need to do is complete an online search to find what you want instead of wandering the aisles) and stock differences as, to ensure that stores can fulfill their online orders, they sometimes allocate a certain amount of stock to online purchases only, which they leave at the warehouse.
It can be beneficial to go in-store for Boxing Day sales as well, as clearance stock from the physical store might not be available online and could see major markdowns because they’re damaged or are the last of its stock.
How can I make the most of Big W Boxing Day sales?
Whether you’re shopping at home or online, it always pays to do your research and shop before the sale. Browse the racks and see what could be of benefit to you and note how much each item costs. You might also like to put a few of these items in your online shopping cart in anticipation of the sales. Then, on Boxing Day you can see how much the item has dropped. If it’s a good deal, then hit that checkout button for a quick purchase before anyone else can get to it.
Understand that not all items will be on sale. If 2014 is anything to go by, Big W prefers to drop prices in specific departments only, so don’t put all your eggs in one basket and look to other stores as well for discounts in the departments you want to shop in.
Which items do Big W usually have the best deals on?
Big W is a low-cost department store which prides itself on everyday low prices and is very competitive in the market. Its best deals lie with its store brands and in its discount sales. It has a tendency to offer discounts on otherwise fixed-priced items like gift cards, which might be worth investing in for future shopping when the store does not have a sale on.
