Everything from Bethesda’s E3 conference

Posted: 13 June 2017 8:50 am News

Here's all the news from Bethesda's E3 2017 event.

Bethesda's E3 conference is done and dusted and if any show was guilty of having its ups and downs, this was it. Sadly, that's not all Bethesda's fault. Its two biggest announcements (Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and The Evil Within 2) were leaked multiple times over before the actual reveals. With that said, both look phenomenal.

Bethesda's Creation Club is a paid mod system in a fancy suit and while it was nice to see Skyrim for Switch and Bethesda's VR games make an appearance, they all felt a little disappointing.

Skyrim for Switch in particular teased amiibo functionality by showing the Link amiibo unlock some sweet in-game Zelda gear. But that was it. If that's your big news, you would think they would show off more than one figure's features. We're also still waiting on release date for Skyrim on Switch, which is a little frustrating considering it was one of the very first games showcased for the system.

Here's everything that was covered at Bethesda's E3 stream.

Cosplay as Link in Tamriel

Bethesda finally showed off another trailer to Skyrim for Switch. While it wasn't very meaty and had a very off theme song choice, it was still exciting to see Link's iconic Master Sword and Hylian shield show up.

Bethesda VR: Doom VFR and Fallout 4 VR

We knew Bethesda was working on some VR projects, but we'd yet to see much from Doom (now officially Doom VFR) and Fallout 4 VR. What we got at E3 was a taste of both VR experiences' gameplay.

Doom VFR will release for PSVR and HTC VIVE and Fallout 4 will release exclusively for HTC Vive. Both games are expected for a 2017 release.

Rosario Dawson returns for Dishonored 2 DLC

One of the most exciting reveals of Bethesda's show was the reveal of Dishonored 2's first DLC Death of the Outsider.

Two of the series best characters, Daud (Michael Madsen) and Billie Lurk AKA Meagan Foster AKA Rosario Dawson are teaming up to take down the prince of chaos, The Outsider.

Dawson's performance was one of our favourite things about Dishonored 2, and Daud has already starred in some very successful DLC so expect big things from Death of the Outsider.

Bethesda announces Creation Club

Creation Club is Bethesda's second attempt at paid-mod support. Creation Club offers new content in exchange for "credits" (which we assume are code for cold, hard cash).

The Evil Within 2 gets a chilling trailer

Horror fans rejoice, The Evil Within is getting a follow-up. While the original's story admittedly jumped the shark a little, it's impossible to deny it had some particularly tense moments. Check out the magnificent trailer below. Fun fact: The trailer was worked on by the super creative Plastic Wax (an Aussie VFX studio based in Sydney).

Here's hoping Tango Gameworks' second attempt refines what made the original such a joy to play.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is real and real weird

Everybody knew Wolfenstein II was coming eventually. Its predecessor and subsequent DLC were enjoyable enough to warrant a sequel and it was clear BJ Blazkowicz' story wasn't over by the end of The New Order.

The New Colossus is very much coming (in 2017, no less) and it looks like Machine Games have fully embraced the absurdity of Wolfenstein's alternate history.
