When is the best time to visit Vietnam?
March and April are two of Vietnam’s driest months, both in terms of rainfall and humidity. In the north, around Hanoi, it is winter so you can expect cool temperatures. In central and south Vietnam, from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City, it’s the dry season, so you can expect a hot and dry climate without that sticky humidity.
As March and April are outside of the school holiday period (Christmas) and the crowds will have thinned out by now, too.
The weather in Vietnam can vary greatly depending on where you’re planning to visit. The north experiences a distinct summer and winter while central and south Vietnam experiences wet and dry seasons. Ideally, you’ll want to search for months with the least amount of rainfall and low humidity.
Vietnam is a popular destination for summer holiday makers, so avoid the school holiday periods, particularly in January and July to August if you want to see it without the crowds.
