How to choose your spring races dress

Choosing a dress can be a lot harder than one would think. There are many aspects to consider when picking a dress for the races, but we're here to help.

The biggest advice we can give you is that the races is a formal event. Many races have a strict dress code and you can be refused entry if you don't adhere to it. This means that low cut necklines or super short dresses can be deemed a little risqué.

On top of that, ensure you're purchasing a dress that is going to work on the day. Check the weather forecast and dress to match it. Spring weather can be quite unpredictable and wearing a long sleeve dress on a 40-degree day will definitely not be a fun time. The same goes for a strapless dress and super tight bodycon style – if you question whether it will be comfortable for hours during the day, the chances are that it won't be!

Look for styles that flatter your body shape and that you know you'll be comfortable in all day. A midi dress is always a fantastic fail-safe for the races. Opting for straps will also avoid the situation of constantly pulling up your dress.

Top trends for Spring Racing

1. Bold colours

Bold colours are one of the hottest trends this season and it's working its way into spring races fashion. From bold reds, bright pinks and vibrant yellows, this is definitely an eye-catching trend of the track. We're also seeing this trend on a lot of 90s-style dresses and midi dresses.

2. Florals

A floral pattern is the one races' trend that will never get old. If you're really struggling to find something to wear, then a pretty feminine and floral dress will do the trick. It's one of the most popular spring racing trends out there and as the saying goes – "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

3. Pantsuits

A trend we saw a couple of people rocking last year is the talk of the track in 2018. Pantsuits are incredibly popular this season, especially in pastels and bright colours. Think pink, blue and maybe even red if you want to stand out from the crowd!

4. Ruffles

Ruffles are a trend that may not be for the faint of heart, but they look damn good at the races. Ruffles add class and a special uniqueness to any dress or outfit. They were hot at Mercedes Benz fashion week and they'll be hot at this season's spring races.
