The English-speaking island is a British territory, and it has two main phone operators: Flow and Digicel. Both operators have been tried and tested by the locals and by international travellers, so they can be trusted. Coverage is good along the coast but can be patchy farther inland. SIM cards are sold in official stores, approved resellers and some grocery stores. Credit can be purchased in the same outlets or online by using a credit card.
Dominica offers 2G, 3G and 4G wireless services. It offers some great prepaid SIM card deals, and the cards can be used on other Caribbean islands, in Canada and in the US. There are several plans available that include data and reasonably priced international calls, and they certainly work out cheaper than using your home phone network. Both providers are very tech savvy and offer the latest 4G/LTE platform, which means fast Internet speeds and good coverage. Below, we have listed the two providers available in Dominica and the best deals they offer.

Credit can be purchased from XCD5 to XCD200 at official stores, supermarkets, petrol stations and online by using your credit card. All top-up amounts are valid for 90 days.

While it’s well known for reviews and booking hotels, flights and holidays, TripAdvisor also has many user comments that can help guide you through what SIM cards have been tried and tested in Dominica.
Here are some top tips from TripAdvisor users:
“There are prepaid SIM cards available and we have two service providers Flow and Digicel. They offer similar services, so you are safe whichever one you choose.”
“Although these SIM cards will roam throughout the islands, the top-up cards are not interchangeable. This means you can only buy top-up cards in the country where you bought the SIM.”
A: Your phone is your lifeline, especially when travelling around the Caribbean. Make sure you keep it safe and always make a note of where it is. The importance of having a direct link to family and friends via social media or through phone services can never be underestimated. If you do lose your phone, then retrace your steps and ask around. If you still have no luck, then cancel any plans or payment methods associated with the phone, report it missing and make a note of the crime number to claim on insurance. Finally, find a cheap replacement to keep in touch with the outside world, and don’t let this one out of your sight.
