3. Kakadu

Best camping spots in the Northern Territory

Litchfield National Park: Close to the city, Litchfield National Park offers picturesque scenery with waterfalls, waterholes and vine forests.

Nitmiluk National Park: Perfect for watersports such as canoeing or kayaking. There are 13 gorges to explore and walking trails for more experienced hikers.

Tjoritja/West Macdonnell National Park: Enjoy spotting wildlife, birdwatching, cycling, lookouts and bushwalking. Swimming is also permitted in specific areas, but it's warned to not expose yourself for too long in the waters as they are cold and you can be struck with hypothermia.

Tjuwaliyn (Douglas) Hot Spring Park: Most famous for the park's thermal hot springs. There are bushwalks and swimming (in designated areas) available on site.

Mary River National Park: Ideal for those who want to go fishing. Particularly known for its abundance in barramundi.
