The bonus points offers you should pay attention to this month.

If you want to reward yourself for paying with plastic, our June round-up of the best frequent flyer and reward credit cards could help you give your points balance the boost it needs.

Of course, there is no such thing as one "best" frequent flyer or reward credit card. Instead, we’ve based this month’s roundup on the cards with the highest bonus points offers available through finder. However, when comparing frequent flyer and reward credit cards, it’s just as important to consider the earn rates, features, rates and fees that also come with the card.

To cater for different types of points chasers, we’ve highlighted frontrunner products that earn Qantas Points, Velocity Points and credit card reward points.

Best Qantas Frequent Flyer credit card

  • Westpac Altitude Black westpac-altitude-black250x156
  • Bonus points. 80,000 bonus points.
  • Earn rate. 0.625 Qantas Points per $1 spent in Australia, 1.5 points per $1 spent overseas with Mastercard and 1.5 points per $1 spent overseas with American Express.
  • Annual fee. $195 p.a. for the first year ($395 p.a. thereafter).

The Westpac Altitude Black credit card currently boasts the highest Qantas Points bonus points offer, with 80,000 points up for grabs at sign up. You can opt to earn either Altitude Reward Points or Qantas Points with this card, but you’ll need to spend $5,000 on eligible purchases within the first 90 days to receive the bonus points.

The card also earns 0.625 Qantas Points per $1 spent in Australia, 1.5 points per $1 spent overseas with Mastercard and 1.5 points per $1 spent overseas with American Express. From 1 July 2017, this higher earn rate will drop to 1.25 Qantas Points per dollar spent on Amex cards.

In addition to the points, cardholders can also take advantage of complimentary travel insurance, a Westpac concierge and two Qantas Club Lounge invitations per year when you use your card to purchase select products or services with the airline.

This all comes at the cost of a $195 annual fee for the first year ($395 p.a. thereafter) and a standard interest rate of 20.24% p.a.

  • Honourable mention: ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card

The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card offers 75,000 Qantas Points if you spend $2,500 on eligible purchases in the first three months. It also comes with 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $7,500 per statement period (0.5 Qantas Points per $1 thereafter) and two complimentary Qantas Club Lounge invitations each year. The card also charges no annual fee for the first year ($425 p.a. thereafter).

  • Earn rate. 1.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases and 2.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent with Virgin Australia.

If you checked out the May round-up of frequent flyer and reward credit cards, you'll probably recognise a few familiar cards in the June lineup. Once again, the American Express Velocity Platinum card has topped the Velocity category.

This card still has the highest bonus points offer of 100,000 Velocity Points. This whopping bonus points bounty is available to cardholders who apply by 31 July 2017 and spend $1,500 in the first three months of card approval. You will receive 10,000 bonus points every statement period when you spend at least $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months, meaning you could earn up to 30,000 points if you meet the spend requirement. Cardholders can also earn 1 Velocity Point per $1 spent on eligible transactions up to $8,000 per statement period (0.5 Velocity Points per $1 thereafter). The card has an annual fee of $144 p.a. in the first year ($289 p.a. thereafter).
