You have to check the back of every packet in the supermarket and you can barely eat anything on a restaurant menu. Plus, you're often feeling hungry all the time or you have food cravings you can never satisfy. It's not a fun experience.
But the payoff is so worth it. Nothing beats the feeling of finally fitting back into a pair of old jeans. Plus, eating right often gives you more energy and you lose that feeling of constant fatigue. So once you start a diet, try to stick to it so you can reap the life-changing benefits.

Pre-make healthy snacks
Snacking is the undoer of so many diets. If you know that you’re a serial snacker, make sure you only have healthy ones in the house.
Purge your cupboards of biscuits and lollies and fill them with only healthy, homemade treats - like the frozen treats pictured, they're made of blended berries and water. Picture this: it’s 9pm on a Wednesday and you just want a little something to go with a cup of tea. You’re not going to make a whole trip to the shops to buy chocolate, so you’ll just have to make do with the healthy snacks you have in the house.
Pre-make all your food
Another diet killer is laziness. It’s so much easier to grab some takeaway than to cook a delicious, healthy meal every night. So, make all your food on the weekend.
Look for recipes for foods such as sauces and stews that can be frozen and then make a bulk batch on Sunday. That way you can come home and simply put your dinner in the microwave for five minutes. It’s faster and cheaper than takeaway too.
Be careful when eating out
Eating out is dangerous. You know how chefs make their food so delicious? With butter and sugar and flour and all those other bad things that you want to avoid eating.
If you don’t want to stop being social just because you’re on a diet, try and convince your friends/family/partner to let you pick the restaurant. Check out some menus online and try and pick somewhere that has a decent selection of healthy food so you that don’t end up at a pizza place with some major regrets.
Do not “treat yo’self”
Breaking your diet makes it that much harder to get back on track. Plus, sweets are addictive, literally. One bite of a brownie can very easily turn into you eating the whole tray. Also, don’t reward yourself with sweets and treats. It’s dangerous to get into the mentality of allowing yourself to break your diet as a congratulations for a job well done.
If you’re on a diet, commit to it. And if you’re going to snack, make sure you stick to the healthy treats you’ve made (see above).
Often times when you’re feeling hungry, you’re actually just thirsty. Staying hydrated will stop you from unnecessarily overeating.
When you’re sleep deprived, your body looks for energy in other ways. If you’re sleepy, you might feel like you just can’t stop eating because you’re body is turning to calories to try and compensate for its sleep debt. A good night’s sleep is one of the best things you can do to stop from overeating.
Caffeine-free Berocca is your friend
If you’re lacking in vitamins, sometimes you’ll feel hungrier. That’s your body trying to source the nutrients it needs. Trying to eat a balanced diet is the best solution for this, but it’s not always the easiest. There are few snack bars on the market that will supposedly limit your snacking and meal consumption by swelling up in your stomach and reducing the amount of available space for more food. The problem is these bars are about 200-300 calories anyway. Ditch the bars and just eat a normal portion of healthy food. It’s better for you.
