What to consider when shopping for tech on Black Friday

Stock levels

The most impressive Black Friday tech deals tend to come with a big caveat: they often sell out before you can take advantage of them. This is because the steepest price cuts are typically accompanied by limited stock, especially when a deal is advertised ahead of time. This isn't such a big issue online, as retailers rarely let you place an order unless there's sufficient stock available to fill it. If you plan on heading to a brick-and-mortar store though, bear in mind that high demand, low stock or even the location of the store itself can prevent you from scoring that killer deal you so wanted.

Delivery times

Like Christmas, Black Friday places a steep demand on both retailers and the postal system. This can cause considerable delays in shipping, with many retailers cautioning that orders may not always arrive within their expected delivery windows. It's important to keep this in mind if you're ordering a product you need immediately or plan to give as a gift since you can't guarantee that you'll receive it in time.
