Beauty product of the week: Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Here's why Benefit's Hoola Bronzer lives up to the Hype.
Why we love this product
Hoola Bronzer is one of the most talked about products on the market. Everyone from beauty bloggers to some of your friends will rave about this product. In my experience, products with this much hype can rarely live up to it. But this is one occasion when I think a product is as good as everyone says it is. I've been using this bronzer for a year now and I'll never switch to another bronzer. Here's why.
Hoola is one of the only truly matte bronzers on the market. Most other products have a little or a lot of shimmer and sparkle in them. Which is great for some but I hate shimmery bronzers – you can't contour with them and if you put on even slightly too much, you look way too shiny. Hoola is completely devoid of shimmer which allows you to use this product to bronze and contour. You can also stop worrying about ending up a shiny mess if you accidentally put on too much. You can always add a bit of highlight on the top later if you like.
This is also one of the only bronzers that works well across a range of skin tones. I was very skeptical about Hoola before I'd tried it. I have medium toned skin which goes a deep darker colour in summer. So I generally have to use the darkest shades of bronzer available to suit my skin – which is silly because I am hardly the darkest person out there #morediversityplease. Hoola looked too light for me but I gave it a try and found that because the product is buildable, it actually works really well on my complexion. If you have darker skin, just apply more of the product and you'll get a darker effect. And this makes Hoola the ideal product for those who like to tan – this product will suit your fairer skin as well as your darker tanned skin.
It also blends very easily and doesn't leave your make up looking patchy. I personally don't really like the brush that comes with the product. I find it much more difficult to blend the product out with such a small brush and prefer my Hourglass powder brush. Just a few sweeps with a powder brush is enough to blend Hoola seamlessly into the rest of your makeup.
Hoola is a double-duty, user-friendly bronzer that works for multiple skin tones. So if you haven't tried it yet, you 100% should.
Hoola Bronzer is $26 for the small and $51 for the large and it's worth every penny.
