Arguably one of the more stable teams in the BBL, the Adelaide Strikers had a fine run last season. Recovering from a somewhat disastrous seventh-place finish in BBL|08, the Strikers placed third on the ladder before losing The Knockout in the play-offs to Sydney Thunder by 8 runs.

The South Australians are optimistic about BBL|10, having signed some talented players like swing bowler Daniel Worrall from Melbourne Stars and former Brisbane Heat batsman Matt Renshaw. They said goodbye to quick Billy Stanlake but are hoping the new additions will compensate for his loss.

The Strikers also re-signed fan favourite Rashid Khan for another season, so the team is looking in decent shape ahead of its opening game.

Adelaide Strikers history

The Adelaide Strikers are coached by former Test quick Jason Gillespie, with Travis Head the captain. They play their home games at Adelaide Oval.

The team's BBL campaigns overall have been a mixed bag. They failed to qualify for the finals the first three years, but reached the semi-finals the next two. They had their best season to date in BBL|07, managing to beat the Hobart Hurricanes in the final to secure the crown.

Since BBL|03, the Strikers have hosted a popular home match on 31 December every year, against different opponents. In 2020, they'll be facing the Perth Scorchers on New Year's Eve.
