Save on the latest premium handsets in our weekly roundup.

Each week, we check the prices you'll pay for a variety of premium handsets from direct and local resellers. If you're in the market for an outright phone, it makes sense to save as much as possible, especially in the premium space where new handsets regularly tip the scales over $1,000.

This week, Apple's iPhone 8 goes under the bargain hammer, as does Samsung's exceptional Galaxy Note 8. We're also examining exactly what you'll pay for Sony's classy Sony Xperia XZ Premium handset, still one of our favourite phones of 2017.

Prices are as per each vendor's website on 06/11/17 and may change without notice. It's not uncommon for different colours to attract price premiums, but in each case, we've selected the lowest-cost version of a particular handset on sale.

iPhone 8 Plus 256GB

Apple's iPhone X is the king of the hill, but it's also brand new with almost no bargains to be had for the pricey handset. Apple took a two-tier approach to its premium iPhone launch this year, and the longer time frame for the iPhone 8's availability means that some bargains are starting to emerge.

For more, including handset deals if you'd rather get one contract, we've collected everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 here.

Combining Sony's signature style with a 960fps-capable slow-motion camera, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium solidly lives up to its premium billing.
