This week’s bargain phones: iPhone 8, Samsung S9 and Huawei P20 Pro
Score a great deal on the iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S9 or Huawei P20 Pro in our weekly round-up of the finest deals on premium smartphones.
There's serious competition in the smartphone world to grab your buying dollar, especially in the premium space where phones now easily command north of $1,000. That's a lot of money to lay down on a phone, so it's smart to shop around.
Every week, we scan the prices for a selection of popular handsets across a range of Australian vendors to find the real deals and real duds.
You can find yourself limited in terms of colour options, as specific hues end up with price cuts or price premiums. If there's a colour listed next to a handset, it's usually because that specific hue is available at a discount, but other colours might not be.
Prices are as advertised on each vendor's website on 30 October 2018. Availability and pricing are subject to change without notice.
With the Apple iPhone XR going on sale last Friday, all of Apple's 2018 iPhone crop is now available to buy. There are differences, but they all share two common factors. First, there's Apple's impressive A12 Bionic CPU. Then there are the price points, which are considerable, even for the "lower cost" Apple iPhone XR.
If you want in on the iOS action and you want to save some cash, consider 2017's Apple iPhone 8 instead. You'll still get the latest iOS updates in a smaller phone at a much more reasonable price.

Apple phones tend to hold their value well, which makes getting a bargain tricky. Kogan's technically undercutting Apple, but its price doesn't include delivery, which could quickly make any saving rather moot.

Samsung's Galaxy S9 is set to be replaced by the Galaxy S10, expected to debut at MWC 2019 in a couple of months from now. The Galaxy S9 is an excellent handset even some months after its debut, and predictably you can score one for much less than its RRP.
If you're looking for a phone contract or more detail, we've gathered everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S9 here.
