This week’s bargain phones: iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung Note9 and Huawei P20 Pro

Alex Kidman 25 September 2018 NEWS

Pick up an iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung Note9 or Huawei P20 Pro and pay less with our round-up of the week's best deals.

Every week, we check prices charged by leading online retailers for the most popular premium phones in Australia in order to assist you in finding the best bargains. Premium smartphones are never cheap, but there is money to be saved if you shop around.

We've selected the lowest cost version of each handset in this week's round-up. That often limits your colour options. Some vendors put a premium on certain colours or a discount on others. If there's a colour listed, it's usually because that specific hue is on sale.

Prices are as advertised on each vendor's website on 25 September 2018. Availability and pricing are subject to change without notice.

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB

The Apple iPhone XS and Apple iPhone XS Max are now available through Apple, as well as on contract, but there are still older iPhone lines available as well. 2017's iPhone 8 Plus was one of our favourite handsets of the year, and it's still an excellent device, now available at a price that's highly competitive against the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max's steep price points.

Keen to learn more about the iPhone 8 Plus? We've gathered up everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 Plus, including contract plans here.

Here are the best deals this week for the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB from retailers selling to Australian customers.

Samsung Galaxy Note9

The Galaxy Note9 is Samsung's best performing handset when it comes to the camera and to battery life. It's only really pipped by the similar Samsung Galaxy S9+ in our round-up of the best handsets due to its high asking price. But what if you could cut that price down?

It turns out you can because while it's still a new handset, we're already seeing discounting through direct resellers for the Note9. That typically happens a month or two after launch, but not usually this rapidly!

If you're looking for a phone contract or more details on the Note9, we've gathered everything you need to know about the Samsung Note9 here.

Huawei P20 Pro

Huawei's successor to the P20 Pro, the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro handsets are set to be launched in just a couple of weeks, but from early rumours, they'll be larger devices that follow the classic "Mate" recipe of delivering a more productivity focus. Huawei's P-series phones are all about style, and in the case of the P20 Pro, that market-leading triple camera array.
