This week’s bargain phones: Save on iPhone X, Galaxy S9+ or Google Pixel 2XL

Alex Kidman 22 May 2018 NEWS

Save on premium smartphones from Apple, Samsung or Google with our regular round-up of the best outright deals.

Buying a premium phone all but guarantees you a premium experience, but it can also leave a smoking hole in your wallet where all your money used to be. You can make up some of that cost by smartly switching mobile providers to take advantage of the best deals, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't search for bargains when acquiring your handset.

That means comparing the best deals on an ongoing basis, and we do that each and every week.

For this comparison, we've chosen the lowest cost version of each handset available with an online vendor. That can limit your colour choices, because some vendors charge more for specific finishes, with discounts not available across the range.

Prices are as advertised on each vendor's website on 22 May 2018. Availability and pricing is subject to change without notice.

iPhone X 64GB

Google Pixel 2 XL

Want to get your hands on the next version of Android, months before anyone else? While Google has opened up its beta trial of Android P to more handsets than ever before, the fastest and easiest way has to be with its own Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. We've been testing out Android P over the last couple of weeks, and it's a fascinating update with lots of very cool new features.

Not that the Google Pixel 2 XL wasn't already a fine phone prior to Android P, or indeed that you have to enrol it in the beta program, which has its own bugs and quirks anyway.

If you need to know more about the Google Pixel 2 XL before you buy, we've collected everything you need to know about the Google Pixel 2 XL here.
