This week’s bargain phones: Score a bargain deal on iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy S9 or Huawei P20 Pro

Alex Kidman 15 May 2018 NEWS

Save serious money on the best premium smartphones from Apple, Samsung or Huawei in our weekly round-up of the best deals around.

Smartphones in the premium space command premium prices, which is why it's a smart move to shop around and compare before you lay your cash down on your next handset.

If you're happy to buy a phone outright, you have got numerous competing direct importers, as well as local outlets competing for your dollar, but who offers the best deals?

Each week, we scour the web to find the best prices on Australia's most popular handsets.

For this comparison, we've selected the lowest cost version of each handset available with an online vendor. You'll often find your colour choices limited, as some vendors charge more for specific finishes, with discounts not available across the range.

Prices are as advertised on each vendor's website on 15 May 2018. Availability and pricing is subject to change without notice.

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB

The iPhone X is technically the "best" phone in Apple's current line-up, but we like the iPhone 8 Plus more. Why? Well, it's rocking the same internal processor as the iPhone X, has dual cameras for some top-notch photography and has much better battery life to boot. The fact that it's also less expensive is the icing on the cake.

Mind you, that's still a pretty pricey cake because Apple simply doesn't do cheap.

If your budget can't cover the outright cost of an iPhone 8 Plus, we've gathered up everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 Plus, including contract plans here.

Here are the best deals this week for the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB from retailers selling to Australian customers.

Huawei P20 Pro

It's launch week for the Huawei P20 Pro here in Australia, so if you've been hanging out for Huawei's exceptional new flagship phone, you'll soon be able to buy one outright in stores. However, before you rush to the car it's worth comparing the prices you can get online. Huawei has priced the Huawei P20 Pro quite aggressively here in Australia relative to its premium competition, but that doesn't mean you can't do at least a little bit better.

If you need to know more about the Huawei P20 Pro before you buy, we've collected everything you need to know about the Huawei P20 Pro here.
