This week’s bargain phones: Save on iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy S8+ or LG V30+

Alex Kidman 13 February 2018 NEWS

Compare prices and save on Apple, Samsung or LG's plus-branded handsets in our weekly roundup of the best deals.

Each week, we check and compare the outright prices you'll pay for a variety of premium smartphones to find the best prices available to Australian consumers.

Choosing to buy your phone outright does involve having the purchase price available to you upfront, but it can seriously pay off over time, thanks to the prevalence of high-value SIM-only plans from a variety of providers.

You can switch telcos on a whim, or to take advantage of any special deals on those plans, as well as having the flexibility to sell the handset at any time for any reason.

Still, you've got to be able to afford it upfront, and that's where finding the lowest possible price for the handset you really want makes sense.

We've selected the lowest cost version of each handset available with an online vendor. That could constrain your colour choices, as some vendors charge more for specific hues. Prices are as per each vendor's website on 13 February 2018 and are subject to change without notice.

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB

The iPhone 8 Plus is Apple's largest handset, and while the iPhone X gets the headlines, the 8 Plus is more of the quiet achiever, especially if you want solid battery life.

If you'd rather grab an iPhone 8 Plus on contract, or just want more information about the handset and its capabilities, we've collected everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 Plus here.

Here are the best deals this week for the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB from retailers selling to Australian customers.

Samsung Galaxy S8+

Samsung's current plus-branded model is the Samsung Galaxy S8+, at least for the next twelve days. The South Korean phone manufacturer is set to announce the Samsung Galaxy S9+ at Mobile World Congress 2018 on 25 February, and that means that there's excess S8+ stock out there to clear. That should mean bargains for those who are happy with what is still an exceptionally good phone.

For more, including handset deals if you'd rather get one on contract, we've collected everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S8+ here.

Here are this week's deals on the Samsung Galaxy S8+ for you to compare:

LG V30+

LG is reportedly set to have a quiet Mobile World Congress, with rumours suggesting that we won't see a new LG G7, but maybe an update to the LG V30 instead in the form of the LG V30s. We'll have to wait and see on that score, but that leaves the LG V30/V30+ as the company's current flagship for now. In Australia, we get the V30+ with its higher memory capacity, and it's an interesting phone to compare simply because you can't get it on contract in any way down under.
