Compare prices and save on Apple, Samsung or LG's flagship smartphones in our weekly roundup of the best deals.

Every week we compare and check the outright prices charged by mobile handset retailers available in Australia, including local and direct resellers.

Many Australians are switching onto the benefits of buying a phone outright, but when you're talking premium handsets, you're looking at a significant upfront investment. That's where it makes sense to buy a handset at the lowest possible price.

With the launch of Amazon Australia we're also including the best listed prices available through the Amazon site locally. Bear in mind that many purchases are not from Amazon itself but via third-party sellers, especially for handsets.

We've selected the lowest cost version of each handset available with an online vendor. That could constrain your colour choices, as some vendors charge more for specific hues. Prices are as per each vendor's website on 18 December 2017 and are subject to change without notice.

iPhone 8 64GB

The iPhone 8 is Apple's smallest "premium" phone for 2017, at least in terms of new architecture. If all you want is a foot in the iOS door, the iPhone SE did technically see a small improve earlier in 2017, but that was just storage, not internal processing power.

The iPhone 8 has a smaller screen and is limited to just the single lens, but it's otherwise a fine handset with the same processor and similar battery life to the much more expensive iPhone X.

For more detail, including handset deals if you'd rather get one on contract, we've collected everything you need to know about the iPhone 8 here.

Here are the best deals this week for the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB from retailers selling to Australian customers.

Samsung Galaxy S8

The rumours are swelling around the impending arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S9, although it now appears less likely that we'll see anything of Samsung's next-generation handset at CES 2018. That means it's a great time to go bargain shopping for this year's premium Galaxy S series phones, as retailers start to shift out the last of the older stock.

For more, including handset deals if you'd rather get one on contract, we've collected everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S8 here.

LG V30+

LG's V30+ combines much of what made the Google Pixel 2 XL special with a dual-lens camera and much lighter and thinner design. That shared DNA with the Pixel 2 XL is no surprise because LG's the manufacturer for that handset. However, the Pixel 2 XL is a pricey proposition and LG has positioned the V30+ as a more affordable alternative on an outright basis only. But can you save even more than its local list price?
