Bankwest launches new 10,000 bonus Qantas Points offer
Open a new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account and earn 10,000 bonus Qantas Points with this limited-time offer.
Bankwest has just launched a new offer that's sure to excite those of us who are a bit points-obsessed. For a limited time, if you open a new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account and meet a few account conditions, you'll earn an enticing 10,000 bonus Qantas Points. Here's what you need to know about the deal.
First, this deal is for new account holders only. If you've already got a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account, you won't receive the bonus points. After you've opened your new account, you need to make 10 eligible Debit Mastercard transactions, which include all your basic everyday purchases. Some ineligible purchases include cheques, BPAY payments, cash-out transactions at merchants, interest charges, bank fees and government charges.
There's no dollar amount required for these 10 transactions, so it shouldn't be too hard to meet this condition. You could, for example, simply use the Debit Mastercard to pay for your daily coffee for 10 days straight, and that'll do it. However, there is a deadline; you must do this before 31 August 2018.
The Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account operates like your standard everyday bank account, except it allows customers to earn Qantas Points on an ongoing basis. The account awards five Qantas Points for each eligible purchase you make with the linked Debit Mastercard, plus 12 Qantas Points for each $100 in your account every month. It also comes with a free Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership.
Like all good deals, there are some catches to be aware of. The account comes with a $6 monthly account-keeping fee unless you can deposit at least $2000 each month. A lot of transaction accounts have conditions like this as a way to ensure you're using the account as your main bank account to deposit your salary. Plus, if you use the Debit Mastercard to make purchases overseas, you'll be stung with a 2.95% foreign transaction fee.
If you're not interested in opening a Bankwest Qantas Transaction account or if you already have the account, you could earn 15,000 bonus Qantas Points by purchasing wine instead.
