Beauty product of the week: Bali Body BB cream
If you're looking for a light coverage product for summer, this is the one you absolutely need to try.
Why we love this product
On the first day I wore this BB cream, I walked into my office in the morning and two separate people stopped me in my tracks to tell me how good my skin looked. It really is that good.
I'm one of those people that hates a full coverage foundation, so BB creams are often the products I'm drawn to. But there are a few problems with the BB cream market. Many of them have a limited shade range with most of the shades skewing towards the lighter end of the spectrum. Many have very little coverage and others with more coverage are too thick and heavy.
But this BB cream is the solution to all those problems.
The first tick for me was that the shades are relatively inclusive and flattering to medium dark skintones. Although there are just four colours, the dark shades are actually dark. When I head into a department store I will often find that I wear the darkest shade of many brands – for context, my skin is within the medium spectrum. When choosing a Bali Body shade, I picked the colour Tan (the second darkest), and hoped that it wouldn't be too light. Surprise surprise, it was slightly too dark which has literally never happened to me. The Tan colour is a deep bronze that made me look fresh from a Greek Island vacation.

The coverage is sheer but still flattering. I prefer sheer coverage because I like to see my freckles and natural beauty spots come through the makeup. But I have some pigmentation issues where my forehead, nose and chin are much darker than my cheeks. This BB cream did a fantastic job of evening out the pigment issues and making my face appear a consistent tone. But I can still see a few nose freckles.
The real difference in this BB cream that I have just not seen in any other of the dozens I've tried is the glow. Glow isn't always a good thing, especially if you have a few spots and congestion like me. Shiny bronzers and highlighters have a way of making an innocent little blemish look like Mount Everest. So I generally avoid these. This product isn't shiny or shimmery, it's just vibrant. There's no real detectable glitter or shimmer but all the same it adds a radiance to your skin that makes you look healthy and super hydrated.

The ingredients list is equally as impressive as the look of the product. According to the product description it is "enriched with green tea & ginseng for their rejuvenating properties, hyaluronic acid & marine collagen to help renew skin". Hyaluronic acid and marine collagen are two of my favourite anti-ageing ingredients, so this is another tick from me. It's also worth noting that it's vegan friendly and paraben-free.
As for wear, I found it lasts me all day. On hotter, sweatier days, I like to touch up with a bit of powder in the T-zone. But even when I don't use powder at all or a setting powder, it stays in place and doesn't crease – unless you cake it on under the eyes.
If you're looking for a light coverage product for summer, this is the one to try.
Affordability
At $29.95, I think this is a fair price for this product. Especially considering it out performs all the competition.
