How do I apply for Aussie travel insurance?

Briefly discuss steps involved in applying for cover.

  • Compare the policies. Your destination and the duration of your journey will determine which policy is best for your needs.
  • Get a quote online. Enter your personal and travel details online and get an idea of the premium you’ll be paying.
  • Read up on which plan offers which benefits. Before agreeing to purchase any plan, be sure that it insures everything and everyone you need covered for your trip.
  • Look out for upgrades. Check to see if you can add an optional extra to your policy for an additional premium.

How do I make a claim with Aussie?

In the event of an accident, loss or damage during your trip, you need to get in touch with Allianz Global Assistance by telephone as quickly as possible to get the claims process started.

  • Don’t waste time. If the insurer feels that you’ve delayed the process unnecessarily, you might be liable for penalties to compensate the time and money forfeited on their end as a result.
  • Be cooperative. Do your best to relay all important information and documentation to Allianz so they can process your claim quickly and effectively. If you leave out details or supply false information, the process will be delayed and your claim might be rejected or your policy cancelled.
  • Alert the local authorities. In the case of lost or stolen luggage and/or personal effects, you have to file a police report and get a written statement from the transport provider to confirm the loss or theft.
