Audius is a blockchain-based music streaming service that is completely decentralised, and all of the content on the platform is owned by the artists. Content creators are able to maximise their royalties and only have to share a minimum processing fee with the platform. The model works in direct opposition to how popular music providers like Spotify, TIDAL and Apple Music currently function. Audio is the natural cryptocurrency of the Audius ecosystem. According to CMC, it enables artists to get paid directly anytime their tracks are streamed on the platform, and instead of having to wait to receive their loyalty bonuses, Audius allows them to receive their earnings in real-time in the form of Audio tokens.
