The iPhone 6 is only worth considering now if you can score one at a bargain price outright or on contract.

  • Apple Pay compatible

Could be better

  • You can get much better iPhone models now
  • Only worthwhile if you can score a bargain

iPhone 6 at a glance
When did the iPhone 6 come out? 19 September 2014
What’s new about the iPhone 6? Improved camera, Apple Pay
How much does the iPhone 6 cost? $699 (32GB) / $849 (128GB)

The iPhone 6 is a gracefully ageing smartphone that could be worthwhile if you're able to buy it at a bargain price.

2014's iPhone family comprised the iPhone 6 family, with one regular-sized and one Plus model. The smaller iPhone 6 was a frontrunner in its day, but it's a handset that's definitely showing its age now.

That being said, if you like the style of Apple's products and can get one at the right price, there could be some value in buying an iPhone 6.

Design

  • Classic iPhone design
  • Remember that you can't expand storage

Camera

  • A simple single-lens camera

Performance

  • Apple A8 a solid upgrade over older iPhones
  • NFC on board, but only for Apple Pay

Battery life

  • 1,810mAh battery struggles to get through a day

Verdict

  • Some appeal if you can score a bargain
  • At standard retail prices you'd be better off with a newer iPhone model.
