Do I need to book a return airfare to activate the international travel insurance? Or can I buy a one way fare and still be covered?

      Hi Jonathan,

Yes, you need to book a return airfare to activate the international travel insurance. A one-way fare is not enough for you to get covered.

You will learn more about the eligibility requirements on this page (https://www.finder.com.au/anz-complimentary-credit-card-insurance).

I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us out again.

You have to spend $500.00 on ” eligible purchases” in the first 3 months to qualify for travel insurance and the free flight.

What exactly are these ELIGIBLE purchases. I don’t see them listed anywhere.
Must they be for overseas flights or hotels?

      LouMay 22, 2017Staff

      Hi Sylvia,

      Thanks for your question.

For the purpose of receiving the complimentary flight attached to this card, eligible purchases as defined in the fine prints of this card, are any purchase for goods or services but excluding payment for interest charges, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, premiums paid for ANZ Credit Card Insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes and reversed or refunded transactions.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

Can I load extra cash on my ANZ Visa card before my international travel and draw cash while travelling to other countries, without attracting cash draw interest, as long as I remain within my cash positive limit.

What all fees and charges are levied for such a scenario?

    • finder Customer Care
      LouApril 4, 2017Staff

      Hi Rick,

      Thanks for your question.

Loading cash into your ANZ credit card is not directly disclosed in the banks terms and conditions. You may directly call ANZ to confirm if this is allowed.

Loading your credit card into a positive balance can avoid the cash advance interest rate. However, generally, you may still incur the following charges:

International ATM withdrawal fee – Charged when you withdraw cash overseas.
Currency conversion fee – This amount is calculated based on the total of the international ATM fee and the amount being withdrawn.
Local ATM operator fee – This can be avoided by using an ATM with your bank’s overseas ATM Alliance (if they have one).

      Cheers,
      Anndy

Can you clarify if there are any fees when using your card for purchases from Aus or from overseas please? I have read the information and remain confused.

      LouMarch 29, 2017Staff

      Hi Tess,

      Thanks for your question.

Using ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card, you won’t incur overseas transaction fee. There is no fee for purchases made in an international currency. This includes transactions made in-person when you are overseas, online transactions outside of Australia and online transactions made in Australia with an international retailer.

      Cheers,

We are travelling to various countries this year. I cannot see anywhere what your charges are for withdrawals from ATM’s. If we maintain a credit balance in our account will we be charged for cash withdrawals?

    • finder Customer Care
      MayJanuary 13, 2017Staff

      Hi Michelle,

Thank you for contacting finder.com.au – a financial comparison website and general information service designed to help consumers make better decisions. We do not represent ANZ or any credit card company we feature on our pages.

As stated in the fine print on ANZ website, when using the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures overseas:

      1. ANZ will waive the overseas transaction fee on foreign currency transactions and transactions where the merchant or financial institution accepting the card is located outside Australia.
      2. ANZ will also waive the cash advance fee if you use your ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures account to withdraw actual cash from a branch or ATM located overseas.
      3. A cash advance fee will apply to any other cash advances on your account.
      4. ATM operator fees may apply.

So this means that ANZ will not charge you ATM withdrawal fees when using your card at overseas ATMs.

      Cheers,
      May
