The competitive earn rates on the David Jones American Express credit card make it an appealing option, whether you're a loyal David Jones shopper or not. In fact, it offers the highest rate of points per $1 spent when you shop at major supermarkets and petrol stations, earning 3 Membership Rewards points or 1.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent at these retail categories.

Can I opt to change my arrangement re points after I’ve already had the card a couple of years? That is, can I opt to change my current points over to Qantas points, and to apply all future DJs points to my Qantas FF account?

      Hi Angela,

      Thank you for contacting finder.

Yes, you may change your Reward Option to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program though you will not be able to convert your current Membership Rewards Points to Qantas Points. You will need to redeem Membership Rewards Points 30 days within your notification of changing your rewards program. Once you have made the switch, you will now earn Qantas points given that you have provided your Qantas Frequent Flyer number.

To know more about the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program, you may check this page.

You may only change your rewards program once every year.

      I hope this helps.

Let us know if there is anything else that we may assist you with.

      Cheers,
      Ash

      Hello Tanvir,

      Thank you for your comment.

According to David Jones Storecard and David Jones American Express Reward Points Terms and Conditions, Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for David Jones Gift Cards, Frequent Traveller Rewards, Non-Frequent Traveller Rewards, Points for Travel, to Shop with Points, or Points + Pay online at David Jones, and Credit on the Card, provided your account and all your other accounts with us are kept in good standing and not overdue.

Unfortunately, points cannot be used to pay for annual fee.

      Regards,
      Jhezelyn

Hi, Presuming there’s no cost if cancelling the credit card, but wanted to know if cancellation would bring down credit score? Or any penalty should put into consideration?

How long would be able to receive the bonus Qantas point after meet the purchase?

    Thanks

      Hi Jul,

      Thanks for your question.

Each time you apply for credit or close a credit account, it shows on your credit file. While lenders might view too many listings as a risk, closing accounts to minimise available credit should not affect your credit score negatively. Just remember to close your credit card properly so that you’ll not leave outstanding debts.

Generally, there are no penalties for closing a card.

It would take 8 to 10 weeks after you have made the eligible spend for the points to be credited to your account.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

A lot of banks are not giving reward points for ATO tax payment paid by credit cards. Does DJ AMX credit cards still give reward points for ATO payment?

      Hi Gina,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

As long as your bills payment are not considered as cash advance, you can earn points through them. Using your card on major petrol stations and supermarkets can let you earn rewards points too.

Please note that the following transactions are excluded on earning rewards points: cash advances, cash services, travellers cheque purchases, interest charges, fees and charges or balance transfers from other credit card accounts and store cards.

For your reference, I have sent the David Jones Amex Rewards terms and conditions in to your email.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Debbie

Hi – I’m interested in getting this card.
Is there a cancellation fee associated with the card? Do you have the financial table (fees, etc.) available online (as I couldn’t find this)
    Thanks!

I’m interested in a card that includes discounts at gas. Does this Card offer that?

      Hi Roberta,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

This David Jones American Express Card will let you earn points when you use it for paying your petrol at partner stations of AMEX but will not let you get discounts on fuel. You can find more of this kind of credit card here.

There are actually credit cards that let you cashback and discounts directly from purchasing fuel. They are not linked with any other existing rewards program but are connected to specific fuel retailers.
