American Airlines Review | Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Loyalty program. The AAdvantage program is a three-tier loyalty program designed to reward frequent flyers with points and travel benefits.
  • oneworld member. Frequent flyers can collect points and take advantage of the services and benefits awarded to members across the entire oneworld network of airlines.
  • Book an all-in-one itinerary. You can book hotels, cars, transfers, activities and cruises online with American Airlines and its partners.

Cons

  • Not all tickets are refundable. Usually the most affordable fares (standard fares) are non refundable. You can pay extra to book a changeable and refundable flight.

What’s the American Airlines baggage policy?

Checked baggage allowances differ according to the route and your cabin class. If you’re flying to America from Australia or from America on another transpacific, transatlantic or South American flight, all passengers can take two carry-on items: a small bag or suitcase, and one personal item such as a handbag, briefcase or laptop bag that must fit under the seat. You also get checked bags for no additional charge.

If you’re taking a domestic flight within America, or are flying from an American airport to Mexico, the Caribbean or Central America, you’ll need to pay $25 for your first checked bag and $35-$40 for your second.
