Amazon has launched a new online video store in Australia that is set to complement its existing Amazon Prime Video service. Similar in concept to iTunes and Google Play, the platform allows customers to rent or buy movies of their choosing, with prices starting at $4.99.
You don't need to be an Amazon Prime member to access the Prime Video store and the service does not require a subscription. This means you only pay for what you actually watch.
Interestingly, the titles on offer include a range of Disney and Marvel movies which were previously exclusive to Disney+. Other studio partners include Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, NBCUniversal, Madman and Lionsgate.
Here's a list of some currently available movies:
Thinking of renting or buying a show or movie? Take a look at what's on Prime Video Store.
In addition to new release movies, the service also has a large back catalogue of popular films from the past few decades. You can also browse by genre. Available categories include Science-Fiction, Action, Family, Horror, Fantasy and Documentary.
Customers can browse and view movies via the Amazon Prime Video "Store" tab via select Smart TVs, Android devices, iPhones and game consoles.
Unfortunately, the Prime Video Store does not provide access to TV shows at present. This means you will still need to subscribe to watch Amazon Originals like Jack Ryan and The Grand Tour.
If you currently subscribe to Amazon Prime Video, many of the available Video Store titles are already included in your membership. (So be sure to check whether a movie is available on-demand before renting it.)
