Amazon Prime Video is now available for PlayStation 4 in Australia
Amazon has ticked off another delivery platform for its streaming service.
While we keenly await the arrival of Amazon shopping to our shores in 2018, Australians can still get a very small taste of the Amazon experience through Amazon Prime Video, which launched here in late 2016. Amazon Prime Video doesn't boast a particularly large video library compared to services such as Netflix, Stan or Foxtel Now, but it does have its own run of original content, including The Grand Tour and The Tick.
Amazon Prime Video streams to computers, iOS and Android devices and selected smart TVs, but from today you'll be able to download and run the Amazon Prime Video client on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles through the PlayStation store in Australia.
While Amazon offers the ability to download all of its catalogue for offline viewing, that's a feature that's exclusive to mobile systems only, so you won't be able to grab all of American Gods and then pull your PlayStation 4 offline.
While it's expected that Amazon Prime Video will become a component of Amazon's general shipping subscription service, Amazon Prime, once it fully launches in Australia, for now you can subscribe to Amazon Prime Video in Australia for US$5.99 per month. There is an introductory deal for new customers that drops that price to US$2.99 per month for the remainder of the year.
