The EOFY sales haven't even finished yet, but the next major shopping event is already on the horizon.

In early July, Amazon Prime subscribers can score huge discounts across thousands of tech, gaming, fashion, beauty and home products during a 48-hour sale known as Prime Day.

It's the biggest sales event on Amazon's calendar worldwide, and that includes Black Friday.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2023?

Mark your calendars! Amazon Prime Day is set to take place on 11-12 July, giving you two days filled with incredible deals to look forward to.

The specific dates and tomes are as follows: 12:01AM AEST 11 July - 11:59PM AEST 12 July.

You can check out the rest of the big shopping events coming this year via our online sales calendar.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

During Amazon Prime Day, exclusive discounts are made available to Amazon Prime subscribers across the entire website. Frequently, these prices reach all-time lows for various products.

It is essentially Amazon's answer to Black Friday, with most retailers and brands actively participating in the sale (provided they are available on Amazon.)

To fully participate in Amazon Prime Day, you'll need an Amazon Prime membership. If you haven't done so already, now is a great time to get a free 30-day trial.

That way, you will be able to participate in the sale without paying anything extra.

What kind of deals can you expect to see?

This question invites speculation, but one thing is for sure: Amazon's own products, such as Echo smart speakers, Kindle ereaders and Fire TV Stick streaming devices are likely to receive significant price cuts.

Picture not described

In previous years, popular tech brands such as Nintendo, Lenovo, Philips, Samsung and Nikon have seen their products available at greatly reduced prices. We predict there will be a price-cut for the PlayStation 5 this year but nothing is confirmed yet.

If past sales are anything to go by, you can also expect discounts of up to 40% on leading shoe brands including Nike, Vans and New Balance.

Confirmed brands include the following:

  • Bose
  • Crocs
  • Casio
  • Ecovacs
  • Delonghi
  • Instant Pot
  • Lego
  • Miele
  • Nike
  • Nintendo
  • Omo
  • Samsung
  • Quilton
  • The North Face.

No matter what product category you've had your eye on, chances are it will be represented on Amazon Prime Day.

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a premium membership to the Amazon marketplace that provides a wide range of perks and benefits, including:

  • Free 2-day domestic delivery
  • Free Standard International Delivery on eligible orders over $49
  • Prime Video: A Netflix-style streaming service with thousands of titles
  • Amazon Music: A Spotify competitor boasting 2 million songs
  • Prime Reading: Free access to thousands of ebooks, short stories, comics and children's books via the Kindle Store
  • Prime Gaming: Free access to a selection of PC games, with more added every month
  • (plus free in-game loot for select titles)
  • Access to 12 subscriptions via Prime Video Channels

An Amazon Prime subscription in Australia now costs $9.99 per month, following a $3 monthly price hike in May. While the value is not as good as it once was, the service is still pretty cheap compared to the USA where customers pay US$12.99 - the equivalent of $18 AUD.
