Amazon Prime Day 2022: What Australian shoppers need to know

Get all the information you need to be ready for when Amazon Prime Day 2022 rolls around later this year.
With Afterpay Day in the rear view mirror for now, it's time to start looking to the next big sales events you can use to cop major savings. While we aren't sure when exactly Amazon Prime Day 2022 will occur, it's best to be on your toes, as Amazon has shifted the date of its marquee sales event quite a few times in recent years.
Here's everything we currently know about Amazon Prime Day 2022, plus some educated guesses.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Each Amazon Prime Day, Amazon Prime subscribers get access to thousands of exclusive discounts across the entire website. Often these prices represent all-time lows for certain products.
To really get your teeth into Amazon Prime Day, you'll need an Amazon Prime membership. Check out our complete guide to Amazon Prime here, or take advantage of a 30-day free trial.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
We don't know exactly when Prime Day 2022 will be taking place. The deal bonanza was born in July 2015, and continued to occur in the middle of July for the next 4 years. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, global financial and supply systems were thrown into disarray. Amazon responded by moving Prime Day to October, rather awkwardly buttressing the event against Black Friday.
In 2021, Amazon moved the event to June. As such, June and July are the months to circle until we get official word from the American giant.
As far as length, Prime Day originally began as a simple 1-day affair, but Amazon seems to have now settled on making it a 65-hour international spending spree.
What deals will be available on Amazon Prime Day?
This is another question upon which we can merely speculate. Amazon's own products, like the Echo Dot series speakers and the Echo Show series tablets will surely receive massively slashed price tags. In years past, the likes of Nintendo, Lenovo, Sony, Philips and many more have seen their products go for majorly reduced prices.
Whatever product category you've been eyeing, there's a good chance it will be represented on Amazon Prime Day.
