How Amazon’s new Hub service will make Black Friday easier for Australian shoppers
The new pick-up service is set to make online shopping a whole lot easier for consumers ahead of the sales season.
Starting from today, shopping from Amazon Australia is about to get a whole lot simpler. In an attempt to make delivery much more convenient for consumers, the online marketplace giant has launched a flexible parcel collect service that will allow customers to pick up their online purchases, rather than have them delivered to their homes.
Titled Amazon Hub, the service has launched in parts of NSW and Victoria through participating Commonwealth Bank branches, Stockland shopping centres and Victorian Authorised Newsagents Association locations. The service will also be rolling out in additional locations across the country, with more than 100 pick-up spots expected by the end of the year.
The news of the launch comes just over one week before the Black Friday sales, which is one of the biggest shopping events of the year. As a site with millions of products from both local and international sellers, Amazon is likely to have huge deals on offer for the occasion.
The introduction of the Amazon Hub will allow shoppers to make the most of these deals and then have their parcels conveniently delivered to a participating location for no extra cost. The service hopes to remove the pain point of having online goods delivered, which often requires customers to be home in order to receive their packages.
How does it work?
To use the Amazon Hub service, simply order through the Amazon Australia site as usual and then select either a locker or counter pick-up in the delivery section. Once you've put in your postcode, a map will then allow you to choose from available pick-up points near you.
Once your parcel has arrived, you will receive an email containing both a unique barcode and a six-digit code. If you are using a locker pick-up, you will need to either scan the barcode or use the unique code to open your locker. If you have selected the counter option, you will be required to show either code to the staff member at your pick-up point.
The Amazon Hub service will work with both free expedited delivery and standard delivery as per normal.
