Amazon is going full anime with today’s Blu-ray and video game deals

Matt Sayer 18 December 2017

Strap into your giant mech and punch the engines, because these deals won't stick around for long.

Giant robots, earth-shattering magic, mind-bending time travel – whatever your power fantasy, you can be sure there's an anime wholly dedicated to it. Whether it's the relatively inexpensive production costs or simply the different cultural roots, anime seems far more willing to explore new ideas and wild concepts than Western media, cartoons included. Not to worry, though, because thanks to services like Crunchyroll and Netflix, it's easier than ever to get your hands on Japan's foremost animated series no matter where in the world you live.

If you prefer the physical medium over online streaming, you'll want to check out today's Deal of the Day over at Amazon. The retail juggernaut has discounted Blu-ray versions of six of the most popular anime series, dropping prices by as much as 60%. Along with the ever-popular mecha-fighting series Evangelion, there's the recent hit My Hero Academia, the time-travelling tales of Steins;Gate and the stylish adventures of Samurai Champloo, created by the director behind the cult classic Cowboy Bebop.

Alongside the Blu-ray deals, Amazon has also slashed the price on a bunch of anime-inspired video games, with the road-tripping Final Fantasy XV and the deadly puzzle series Zero Escape on sale, too.

You can check out all the fantastical deals below. We've converted the prices to AUD to save you the trouble, too.
