Iconic Australian beauty brand Alpha-H recently added a new cleanser to its already solid line-up of skincare. The Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm is a waterless balm formula that combines Australian wild orange leaf extract, sandalwood seed oil and grapeseed oil. The brand already has a cream and gel cleanser in its ranks, but this is the first balm-to-oil cleanser it has released.
I've had good experiences with Alpha-H products in the past, but it was the Instagram reels of beauty buffs using the product that really made me want to give it a go. Full disclosure, Alpha-H gifted us the Melting Moment Cleansing Balm to try but with no expectation to review or post about it. Alrighty, let's get into the review.
What does it do?
The oils in the Melting Moment Cleansing Balm melt away makeup, SPF, dirt and other impurities that've soaked into your skin during the day. If you're doing a double cleanse, use this balm as a first step followed by a gel or cream cleanser. It's super hydrating, so it's especially suited to treating dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. It also works a treat for oily skin types too, because it breaks down excess oil on the skin without over-drying. The Alpha-H cleanser is also vegan, cruelty-free and made from locally sourced ingredients and a clean formula (AKA no parabens, mineral oil or SLS/SLES).
Does it work?
Scoop out a grape-sized piece and apply to dry skin, gently massaging it in circular motions. Then rinse off using some warm water or a damp cotton cloth. Not only does it smell delish and feel really lush, but my skin feels really hydrated and plump after using it. You can use it twice if needed, but (unlike some other cleanser balms) I actually thought it did an amazing job at removing my makeup and giving my skin a solid clean.
You can use Melting Moments balm as a daily cleanser, but you can also leave it on clean skin for up to 10 minutes for a hydrating mask.
Should you buy it?
- Buy it if: You want a hydrating and efficient balm cleanser.
- Don't buy it if: You're on a budget
I docked half a point because $60 is on the expensive side for a cleanser. However, if you have the moolah to spend, the Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm is worth the investment. It's made with local botanical ingredients, suitable for most skin types and actually does the damn job. I've tried a few, and this is my fave balm cleanser that I've used so far.
