ALDImobile Value Pack changes data options

Alex Kidman 18 April 2016 NEWS

When ALDImobile switches over fully to 4G, it will also change its plan pricing.

We already knew that ALDImobile will be switching customers over to Telstra’s 4G network by the end of April. Now ALDI has announced also announced a slew of new plan changes to take effect on 28 April 2016 as part of that switch, which .

Plan pricing on each Value Pack tier doesn’t differ, but each plan gets a boost in its data allowance. However, in return ALDImobile appears to be dropping its "Weekend Data" bonus offering. Depending on your weekend usage that could technically mean you lose a little data usage over a typical month compared to the old plans. (If you find bonus data on weekends useful, it's still an option with Boost Mobile, which also runs on Telstra's 4G network.)

ALDImobile Value Plans Monthly Included Data Included Calls Included SMS
S (Old) $15 250MB up to 125 minutes 50,000
S (New) $15 500MB up to 250 minutes Unlimited
M (Old) $20 1GB up to 400 minutes 50,000
M (New) $20 1.5GB up to 750 minutes Unlimited
L(Old) $25 1.5GB Up to 700 minutes (free weekend calls) 50,000
L(New) $25 2GB Unlimited Unlimited
XL (Old) $35 4GB 43,200 minutes/1.5hrs international 50,000
XL (New) $35 5GB Unlimited national/200 mins international Unlimited
XXL (Old) $45 6GB 43,200 minutes/3hrs international 50,000
XXL (New) $45 7GB Unlimited national/300 mins international Unlimited

Under the new plans, ALDImobile is lining up with the vast majority of the rest of the mobile industry and offering 1GB data boosts for a flat $10. While it initially appeared that the older data boost packs would be retired, Aldi's new plan page reports no change to those offerings under the new deals.

Like fellow supermarket mobile provider Woolworths, ALDImobile is switching to Telstra's 4G network, but not its enhanced 4GX network. We'll update our full phone comparison tool with the new ALDImobile prices once they go live at the end of the month.
